I have been creating works on silk for seven years now. It is a fabulous medium to work with. The
colours are so bright and eye catching which is enhanced by the silk material. They make even the most simple of designs
stunning.
The silk used is finest ponge or habotai which is unbelievably light, but incredibly warm.
My work on garments such as scarves, ties and waistcoats, is produced using a gutta
resist to stop the dye from spreading outside the desired design. However, the animal portraits are painted onto plain
silk which has been treated to stop the diffusion of the dyes.
My portfolio consists mainly of dogs, but there are also horses, other wild animals and birds.
Just recently I have been approached to design and produce wicca products such as alter cloths and spell
bags. This has given me the opportunity to develop my fascination with celtic knotwork and zoomorphics ( celtic
knotwork intertwined with animals)
